Health and Sports Activities
A Hiking and Tree-planting for the 60th Anniversary of United College was held in the morning of 9 April 2017 (SUN) by the Working Group on Health and Sports Activities for 60th Anniversary of United College, with the objectives to raise the “love the nature” awareness of students and staff, to experience tree-planting and to encourage hiking.
The activity was led by Professor K C Chau, Department of Geography and Resources Management, Senior College Tutor of United College, to join the Hiking and Planting Day of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department held at Kam Shan Country Park. 45 students, staff and family members participated in the activity, with College’s sponsorship in transport.
Under the beautiful sunshine, Professor Chau kindly introduced the plant species and different landscapes along the tree-planting route to the participants, encouraging them to learn more and love more our nature. Professor Stephen H S Wong, Convenor of the Working Group on Health and Sports Activities, also joined the activity.

The Basketball & Tennis Teacher-student Competitions for the 60th Anniversary of United College were held in the afternoon of 1 April 2017 (SAT) by the Working Group on Health and Sports Activities for 60th Anniversary of United College. The Competitions were held at the Thomas H C Cheung Gymnasium and Tennis Courts of the College, with the objectives to raise the health awareness of students and staff members, to enhance participants’ basketball & tennis skills and to facilitate friendship among teachers and students
Prof Jimmy Yu, College Head started the basketball game after the Opening Ceremony at 2:00pm. Many staff members, students and alumni watched the games cheered for the teams on the day.

The College Tennis Courts re-opened on 26 August 2016, with the completion of the enhancement project. A re-opening ceremony of the Tennis Courts and friendly matches were held on 23 November 2016. College staff and students are welcome to book the courts online while members of the College Alumni Association can call the College PE Unit at 3943 7539 for booking free of charge.
